Saint Etienne's Travel Edition
I have been listening to Saint Etienne’s Travel Edition this week.

The Short & Sweet Intro
A light, lingering girlie voice with techno beats that don’t overpower… this is what I think of when I think of Saint Etienne. And Travel Edition is a greatest hits album for the group. You will probably like Saint Etienne if you like Belle & Sebastian, Air or Mogwai. Let me say that I really, really don’t like dance/techno music. But I love Saint Eteinne! Unlike so many groups, their music takes you to a familiar place that you have never been before. They always set a mood.
Some Lyrics…“He’s on the phone, doesn’t want to go home. The hotel life – forget your wife, you’re on your own. Academia girl her life’s a gas, she loves the trash inside his world. Can’t find his way there, got the cash, feeling flash in Leicester Square.”—He’s on the Phone
Is it me or does this verse from Saint Etienne remind you of Lost in Translation? ...except London instead of Tokyo?

Music Monday: Best of the 1990s
7 of the Best Albums of the 1990s for $7
Pitchfork has put out a list of the top 100 Albums of the 1990s (as well as list for the 60s, 70s and 80s). These lists matched with MusicMP3.ru’s great prices mean good music for not alot of effort or money.
MusicMP3.ru is a music store where users buy a minimum amount of music credits (I think I had to buy $20 the first time, but I went through that quickly). All of the albums and songs are priced with US Dollars and cents; so you know exactly what you are spending. I have been using the site for over a year and have been impressed with their selection and prices. I use the Firefox Add-on Download Them All to download whole albums without having to click the individual links provided when you buy an album.
Here are pitchfork’s top 10 albums of the 1990s in order with links to the available albums at MusicMP3.ru.
- Radiohead’s OK Computer for $0.96

Music Monday: Uber short review of Danielson's Ships
In fact, the following doesn’t even count as a review, but if you have been living in a cave or without internet access, you might want to look into Danielson.
My Danielson promo/pseudo-review here.
Music Overload

Songbird 0.1 has been released. The coolest thing that I have spied so far is that the songs available on a page can be displayed at the bottom of songbird or on the web playlist. Also, being able to browse else where while listening to the web playlist potentially could make for better use of music browsing web-time. This thing is not ready for prime time, but I am hoping that I can get a feel of whether or not separating my music browsing from my ‘other’ browsing will be useful. It’s open source, built from firefox. I know this really isn’t a directly related to web services, but I am having a total music overload breakdown. With pandora, odeo, last.fm, itunes, and musicmp3.ru I can’t keep up with the new music that I have, let alone continue to take in all of the recommendations provided to me by some of these cool web apps. And despite all of the music that if out there on the web, there are still albums that I have to buy “hard copies” of from amazon.com or other retailers.
